The Engine That Powers Smart Devices, Dramatically Reducing Time to Market

overview

Altimus designs, engineers and manufactures customized smart products for a wide range of consumer and industrial applications. At the heart of these devices are ARM System on Modules, a circuit board containing the computing engine that smart devices operate on and helps accelerate time to market.

The Challenge

Provide a solution for companies with limited or no expertise in hardware who need to conceive, design, and launch a sophisticated new smart product in a limited timeframe.

The Outcome

Altimus ARM System on Module (SoM) Processing Engines power consumer and industrial products for a wide range of applications. The bottom line is accelerated time to market, far less technical risk, and significantly lower development costs.

Clients from automotive to professional audio have been asking us the same question for more than ten years: “Can you design our product and get it into manufacturing in less than 12 months? How about 9 months? 6 months? How about if we handle the software application development while you design and develop the rest of our product in parallel?”

Altimus released its first ARM-based System on Module processing engine to eliminate the costly, risky, and time consuming method of designing a new product from scratch. Instead, clients choose to power their devices with one of our modules, which can be additionally customized to a specific target application and price point.

The engine that powers smart devices

Today, the “brains” for a smart product are available on a build-to-order basis from Altimus, in a variety of processor and memory configurations. Clients are then free to specify their product in as much detail as they are comfortable with: functional requirements, user interface, controls, connection interfaces, connectors, industrial design and software functionality. This shift of focus from “how are we going to do this?” to “what shall we make it do?” has been instrumental in helping clients play to their strengths in their field of expertise, and makes for timely product solutions unhindered by lack of their in-house hardware expertise.
